Great Week!

We had a great week last week and enjoyed celebrating our August birthdays!  If your child has a September birthday we will celebrate on the 25th.  We can have treats as long as we also have something healthy.  When the date gets closer, let me know if you wish to send something in.  Encourage your kids to read and AR test as much as possible.  Mrs. Chezum is giving some really awesome AR prizes!! In second grade comprehension is really the focus.  Try to make sure your child is listening to that "thinking voice" as they read! We do not have school on Monday, September 7th!

Information!!

Last Friday we finished our rural and urban area posters.  We were learning to cooperate in groups and listen to each others' ideas.  Then, we gave oral presentations to the class.  I have pictures of the project under the "Photos" tab.  Enjoy! This Friday we will celebrate the August birthdays!  The Spelling Circle Test will be given on Wednesdays and the Written Test on Fridays.  We will take the Weekly Reading Test and the Grammar Quiz on Fridays also!

We had a great week last week!  We ended our week "buying" items from the class store with our money we earned for the week! For 50 cents your child can play educational games on an IPAD after morning work!! Small pieces of candy and mechanical pencils were also prizes! Money is given for Super Second Grade behavior!

First Days of School!

We had a great two days of school! We made a "Friendship Snack" and learned about a positive classroom environment! We also read "Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon," made a craft, did a writing activity, and ate watermelon. We also did our "Math About Me" activity that I hope you all enjoyed!!
